| Work Scope |
- The Project Technical Manager is responsible for planning, monitoring and leading a team to deliver the technical element of the tender, project or study they are being appointed.
- Technical Responsibilities
- Overall project technical delivery of the assigned project, particularly the Design and Construction Engineering process
- Identification, mitigation and management of technical risk, interfacing with the disciplines and holding necessary reviews
- Issue the project Engineering Quality Control plan and ensure the project technical team adhere to the control, validation and
verifications defined.
- Ensure that all internal and external interfaces impacting on the technical delivery are appropriately managed.
- Business Responsibilities
- Develop a technical delivery schedule that interfaces with the project convergence plan and procurement plan.
- Identify technical and operational risk and highlight to commercial team/project manager.
- Issue the project organisation that supports the delivery of the technical scope of work.
- Identify and maintain the resource plan that aligns with the technical delivery schedule and agree it with the discipline
managers.
- Prepare project role descriptions to ensure all project engineering personnel are clear of their roles and responsibilities.
- Cost monitoring/mitigation, schedule monitoring and resource forecasting for the project technical team and deliverables.
- Interface with Discipline Managers with respect to resource utilisation and planning.
- Ensure that technical queries and deviations from all parties (including internal) have full traceability, review and validation
systems in place. The system must interface with the project change management process to ensure changes to the contract
can be actioned.
- Personal Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively to new engineering personnel information about the project and their role. Ensure all
new team members have clear project line management.
- Establish and maintain a positive and proactive working environment that encourages team working, a spirit of openness,
honesty and integrity.
- Mentor or clearly delegate the mentoring of inexperienced engineers.
- Participate in the Performance Management Review process in support of the Discipline Managers.
- Support training and development activities.
- Set up effective communication channels with the project technical team to maintain information flow and a clear
understanding of focus areas, by way of weekly/monthly meetings.

| Requirements |
- Technical and operational experience and knowledge of all relevant disciplines applicable to the project, with an extended capability of managing technical delivery.
- Extended capability in the knowledge and understanding of subcontracting, supplier relationships, logistics and factors influencing the adequacy, delivery and cost of services equipment and materials.
- Proven ability in the resource planning to meet resourcing requirements.
- Knowledge and understanding of planning/schedules, budgets, forecasting, cost control, estimating and risk management to effectively manage obligations.
